Corrections
This page is a public record of factual errors corrected on theorderoftheswns.org. Every entry states what was wrong, what it now says, and when the correction was made. Medical accuracy is not optional on a site used by patients seeking diagnosis. When we get something wrong, it goes here.
Three separate findings — the schwannoma–neuron–macrophage IL-6 crosstalk, CGRP upregulation under macrophage-driven inflammation, and the IL-6 vs. EGFR tumor-growth divergence — were attributed to Gutierrez et al. (Journal of Pain, 2026).
Those findings belong to Yin Z, Plotkin SR, Xu L et al. (Advanced Science, 2026), which is the study that characterized the macrophage→IL-6→DRG pain axis and the EGFR escape mechanism. Gutierrez et al. (Journal of Pain, 2025) is correctly credited for the conditioned medium / GsMTx-4 mechanosensitivity findings only.
Gutierrez et al. (Journal of Pain) cited with year 2026.
Corrected to 2025. The paper was published online November 2025; 2025 is the publication year.
Gutierrez et al. paper described as appearing "in the Journal of Pain (2026; available online November 2025)."
Corrected to 2025. Published online November 2025 is the publication date.
The GsMTx-4 banner stated that CTF was funding the spider venom research.
Funding claim removed. CTF funded the original published study. Whether that funding was ongoing at the time the banner was written was not verified and cannot be stated as fact.
The gene comparison table listed meningioma occurrence in SMARCB1-related schwannomatosis as "Common."
Corrected to "Rare (~5%)" per Rai P et al. (Neuroradiol J, 2025; DOI: 10.1177/19714009251313510), which reviewed meningioma prevalence across schwannomatosis subtypes.
The Gutierrez et al. paper citation card was not displaying. The paper lookup was using the old ID "gutierrez-2026-gsmtx4" after the ID was updated to "gutierrez-2025-gsmtx4," causing the card to render empty.
Lookup corrected. Paper card now displays correctly.
